My Story, Part Twenty

Rain days are one of the things totally out of my control. I woke up on Sunday morning to do a ride before 5 am and found it raining and wet.

There wasn’t a lot I could do but go back to sleep.

Flake days, however, are much more in my control. Despite the fact that it was sunny later in the day, I deemed myself too busy and dehydrated and the day too hot to actually do a ride.

All I can really do with rain days is reschedule. Today, I shuffled my morning ride to the afternoon (which I don’t really like to do because of the heat)–and failed to do it. So it became a flake day as well.

Since I have a day off tomorrow I have a bit of a cushion–I’m actually ahead a day in riding right now–but I know with a 12 of 13 day work stretch plus a couple of weeks off in July I need to put in all the time I can.

I guess if I had a gym membership or an indoor trainer I could do something about rain days, but considering that less than 10% of my workouts are affected by rain days–more might be affected by flake days–it’s not worth the money I’d put out.

Here’s hoping there’s no rain–or flake–in your workout week!
