Mixing it Up
Since the century is now done (and my bike is without a functional rear tube, albeit temporarily), I’m going to switch my workout emphasis from cycling to running for a bit. Why, especially considering how much I hate running?
I have a running event in December (a 5k) and another in February (the Great Aloha Run), so it’s reasonable I start making more efforts that way.
A 5k run isn’t really far–we’re talking just a little over three miles–but it’s a start. I don’t anticipate I’ll ever do a marathon again–one time is enough–but I’ve got to start again somewhere. Yes, I could do a 5k and maybe a 10k right now, even without having run more than once or twice a week for awhile, but training is always helpful.
This does not mean I’m going to give up any of my other activities, just scaling them back–the weights, the cycling, the swimming–and working on my running. Hopefully starting tomorrow.
