Winter Training
It’s dark earlier in the evenings and stays dark later in the mornings. It’s also colder.
For those of you who don’t live in Hawai’i, you can stop laughing now.
The truth is that it’s more difficult for me to do my outdoor training–aside from swimming–at this time of year. While I prefer running at night to running during the day–with the heat–these creaky bones are often not thrilled at morning runs as the day gets colder. I need to get a new bike light to do morning rides. That leaves me largely with lifting weights and not a whole lot else I can do to get more fit.
So it’s time to have more resolve.
I’m starting a cycling program again right now; it’s been a few weeks off the bike, but it’s nice and warm today and I’ll get a bit of running in. I’m also playing basketball–a sport, not really exercise (which I’ll discuss later)–a little right now, mostly for fun and hopefully not to injure myself.
I’ll have to make do until the winter’s over.
