Kicking My Own Rear

I need to get out and ride more. It’s a tough call, because the weather is less than ideal. But I need to.

I have less than two months until Livestrong. I’m not ready.

Well, I could finish it, but I wouldn’t finish it well. And finishing well is what I really want to do.

July is always a busy month here. While I won’t be going to KansasFest for the first time in what seems to be a lifetime, I have a project I am trying to get done by then. And I need to train.

In addition, I signed up for the Honolulu Marathon since it seems I’m in more than decent shape to be running.

I have to get out there. Right now I just need to do it by kicking myself in the rear. No other way.

I’m somewhat confident but a little worried. I’ve been riding and running decently but the weather and my own laziness has been conspiring against me in many ways. It’s why I’m saying no excuses and time to kick my own rear. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the only way to get […]

I’m sorry, I was involved with helping out with a Twitter wedding, also known as the #whitetwedding2010 on July 7, 2010 and it totally wiped me out. I apologize for not updating this blog on Thursday, July 8, 2010.

It’s hot. It’s raining. I’m tired. I’m sore. Enough. No more excuses. Let’s ride. [ad#Google Adsense]

My biggest challenge is coming from myself. It’s hot and I’m having a hard time getting up early enough to do the exercise I want in the morning, but I still need to do it, especially considering how close I am to some serious events, including Livestrong Philadelphia. So I’m simply forcing myself to get […]

This post is cross posted with my other blog, Uncommon Cents: One of the things I really like is something that lasts a long, long time without needing replacement–or that can be reused over and over again with a little bit of work. Profile Designs Bar Wrap–bicycle handlebar tape for the uninitiated–is one of those […]

I’m back. Took some time off for my “forced” vacation, which unfortunately included my getting heat exhaustion and my aunt passing away unexpectedly, triggering a bit more time off. And I’m back with a vengeance. Kick started my running routine this week–already I’ve done two three milers and a five miler, and the test will […]

Beating the Heat

I came down with heat exhaustion last week while I was on vacation. A two hour ride at midday, combined with extraordinary heat and humidity and a broken ice maker in our refrigerator to put me in pretty rough shape the next day. I needed hydration, and in a bad way. A few days off, […]

My Story Part One Hundred Thirty Nine

I overdid it. I was off this past week (and while my life was somewhat disrupted by an unexpected death in the family) and very ambitious about my workout schedule. The weather was also great. Too great. I was stopped in my tracks by a case of heat exhaustion on Tuesday’s two hour ride. Heat […]
