I have a goal. Not long ago I sprung for a Fat Cyclist team jersey from Twin Six, even though it is way out of line with the jerseys I usually get. I did this for two reasons: one, because part of the proceeds went to Livestrong; and two, because I’m considering going to Philadelphia for that version of the Livestrong Challenge.
The large jersey came this past week.
And it’s too small for me.
So now, instead of trying to return it, I’m going to try to reduce my size to fit into this jersey before the Livestrong in Philadelphia in 2010.
It’s nice to have goals. I’ll let you know how it goes.

One of the social workers I work with who is usually stationed at another clinic will be temporarily assigned to the same building and shift I do for a few weeks. She’s close to my age and she’s been trying to get her workouts kick started too. So tomorrow, we’re going to meet at 7:15 […]

I’m sick. I don’t like being sick, and while there’s no “best” time, this really isn’t anywhere near that, since I start a six day stretch of work Monday. I’m hoping this is “just” a cold, not the flu, and certainly not the flu formerly known as swine. What about my workouts? Trying to do […]

I got a shot of adrenaline last week Sunday. I was out on my bike, doing a very cursory ride–just an hour–and was about to finish it off, pulling into a driveway at the parking lot of a nearby mall. At that point I was hit by a car coming out of the same driveway […]

I had planned for this post to run on Monday the 9th of November, 2009, but for some reason it ended up buried in my draft pile. My apologies for my tardiness. I ran this morning, a pretty short two miles, before my aborted attempt to attend Sunday service at Kane’ohe Higashi Hongwanji (to give […]

I’m about 90 degrees into a 180 degree turn. I haven’t been doing that well with my health and fitness recently–once I was done with the century I started a downward spiral and my way too busy October dragged me down into it further. But it’s November now and that part of my life is […]

I’m struggling to get back in form. I’m not horribly out of shape, but my weight has gone back up to closer to 190 than 185. For various reasons I’ve already mentioned, life is not cooperating. But I’m starting. I always say there’s really only a couple of things that can be done to fix […]

On Tuesday, I took off from my regular job to help out my friend Burt Lum and sit on a panel at a Hawai’i Department of Health summit. Our topic: social media. Between Burt, who works for Hawai’i’s Blue Cross/Blue Shield affiliate, known as HMSA, Randy Kusaka of the Hawai’i Blood Bank, and myself, we […]

I’m a little sore. Not a lot, but a little. I’ve been getting my training program going again after having fallen a bit off the wagon for awhile. My weight has crept back up to 190 after spending a long time around 185. So I’ve been running and riding, and trying to get my diet […]
